The List 1. Complex problem solving 2. Critical thinking 3. Creativity 4. People management 5. Coordinating with others 6. Emotional intelligence 7. Judgment and decision-making 8. Service orientation 9. Negotiation 10. Cognitive flexibility
My Top Two Skills 1. Emotional Intelligence: I would consider myself most confident in this field for a few reasons. The first being that I believe I am a very self-aware person. This means that I am aware and able to control my emotions. I also would consider myself to have high emotional intelligence because not only am aware of my emotions, but also the emotions of other. I am a rather empathetic person and feel like I can make strong emotional connections with a variety of people. I feel like this is in part due to the fact that I am able to understand what other people are feeling, but also due to the fact that I can adapt well to different situations which also helps in creating this connection.
2. Critical thinking: This is another skill that I would consider myself confident in. This is because I am a very logical person. I enjoy analyzing, making sense of, evidence. I love finding patterns and making connections. All of this analysis of facts allows me to formulate reasonable arguments, conclusions, or even solutions. And not only does this analysis make sense to me, but in the way it is logically laid out it also makes sense to others.
My Two Skills that Need Improvement 1. Negotiation: Is an area that I believe could use some improvement. This is because I don't like to argue/have somewhat heated discussions with people. I simply don't want to offend anybody or outwardly disagree with people, and would rather just agree with them and move on, even if this means sacrificing something that is important to me. However, I believe this is an important skill to have, as I am often reminded by my dad, "you just can't make everyone happy". So, I think negotiating and compromising is something I need to emphasize. I need to try harder to stand up for myself and not simply sit back and agree, especially when it's something that is important to me.
2. Judgment and decision-making: I think Judgment and decision making is an area I could definitely improve. As I know that I am a rather “indecisive” person. I think this is because I don’t trust my decisions enough and continue to live in fear of failure. This means that I don’t want to make any risky decisions or decisions in which I don’t already know the outcome to. I think I can improve in this area by continuing to focus on redefining failure and by worrying less about perfection and more about overall growth. I also think in order for this skill to be improved I need to put myself in situations outside of my comfort zone where I am forced to do things that are a little "risky" and make decisions that I may not be comfortable with.
